Volkswagen has confirmed the next ID. Buzz for the U.S. market: it arrives as a 2028 model year in the first half of 2027, bundling a full suite of enhancements into a single launch. The electric Microbus isn’t going anywhere — VW calls it a halo vehicle for the brand and a core part of its EV strategy.
The MY2028 ID. Buzz adds an integrated North American Charging System (NACS) port, so you can use the growing NACS and Supercharger network without an adapter, plus VW’s latest ID.S 6 software (enhanced navigation, vehicle settings and an App Store), a Digital Key compatible with Apple and Google Wallet, one-pedal driving, and welcome hard keys on the steering wheel.
Two highlights stand out for Colorado buyers: the new Tourer 4Motion trim, designed for overnight adventures with integrated camping-focused features, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), which lets you power camping gear, laptops and small appliances straight from the battery. Simplified two-tone colors — including the nostalgic Candy White over Cherry Red — and a new Pro S 4Motion trim round out the lineup.

The ID. Buzz was already a natural fit for Boulder County: room for the whole crew and the gear, available all-wheel drive for snow and dirt roads, and quiet electric driving from Pearl Street to the trailhead. Colorado still supports EV buyers: a $750 state EV tax credit applies (the ID. Buzz is under the $80,000 cap), and income-qualified buyers may add Vehicle Exchange Colorado — up to $9,000 toward a new EV. The federal EV credit ended in 2025, so ask Emich about your eligibility.
